Thread Size: 3/8" - 16 or 9.5mm - 16
For Johnson / Evinrude and Mercury Applications
Instructions
1. Remove lower drain plug and upper vent plug from the gearcase and drain all lubricant.
2. Inspect the gearcase to ensure the old gaskets were removed with the old plugs.
3. Ensure the gaskets are installed onto the drain (magnetic) and vent (non-magnetic)
adapters. Using the raised portion along the back of the included key ring tool install
the adapters securely. Note: If the debris cap is installed in the drain adapter please
remove before installation.
4. Thread the barbed fittings into each adapter and fill the gearcase per the manufacturer’s specification.
5. Remove the barbed fittings and store in a safe place. Install the debris cap in the drain adapter and secure using the provided tool.
Check for water intrusion: Using key ring tool, apply pressure to check ball at the vent plug for two seconds. Then apply pressure to the check ball at the drain plug to develop oil sample on the flat side of tool. Milky color indicates water intrusion. Note: Utilizing an evacuator when using the barb fittings to drain the gearcase will significantly reduce the time required.
